New molds

I had a request to “re-create” someone’s necklace using resin, so I bought some new molds and am trying out some different color combinations. Unfortunately I think these molds won’t work for the originally intended project, but I think they will make some cute windchime / suncatchers.

I also made a few new cardinal suncatchers & coasters while I was at it.

WA Artisans and Crafters Fair – recap

I had a great time at my first ever West Ashley Artisans and Crafters Fair May 14th. I had an awesome spot right by the food court entrance and closest to the free glitter tattoo lady (perfect for when the little ones wanted to touch something fragile, “Look! Free glitter tattoos!”). It was a pretty good crowd for a random weekend in May. I think I’ll try to do it whenever I can (it’s every 2nd Saturday). I can’t make it in July due to a previous commitment, but I plan to be there on June 11th!

Holiday Market – This weekend!

My booth is ready to go and the Holiday Market starts tomorrow morning at 10am. Come by and visit!

Beachy Batch

I started these a few weeks ago, but had to wait for the ornament hangers, then had to glue them in place and let it dry. This weekend was my first opportunity to finish them by taping the backs with painter’s tape, pouring the resin and decorating. The molded suncatchers / ornaments only have the first layer of resin poured (today) and will require at least a second layer.

Beachy batch – the blue painters tape will be removed from the glass ornaments / suncatchers after the resin cures.

The last time I made these smaller starfish / sand dollar ornaments / suncatchers, I believe I glued the sand for the beach in place before pouring the resin, so I did that again this time. I still ended up adding some sand here and there after I poured the resin this time. I’m not sure the extra step of gluing the sand in place in advance is needed at all. I likely will skip it the next time I make some of these.

Pouring resin

Yesterday I poured / decorated the resin for the winter scene and snowman, as well as added a second resin layer to four molded ornaments. Hopefully I will be able to get finished pictures of them this evening!

8 Seasons done!

Wrapped up my “8 Seasons” set project today. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. Eight panels (each approximately 6″ square). Two for each season (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter). These will be sold with the display stand as a set for $400.

Eight panels and display stand included

Resin poured!

Today I was able to pour the resin on the Sunflower, Spring Flowers (Delphinium / Grape Hyacinth inspired), Acorns and Snowman panels. I forgot to use the masking tape on the undersides, so there was a lot of tending to the drips to take care of for these. Looking forward to seeing how the turn out in the next day or two!

More than Four Seasons

Some friends and family opined that my Seahorse panel for this set was more summer-y than spring-y, so I set out to make some other options to round out the seasons. Today I started a sunflower, a snowman, and spring flower panels. I still have to decide what the flowers themselves will look like for the spring flowers panel.

Sunflower laid out

I had some snowman parts already made, so it was easy to lay out the parts.

I might use the small blue glass globs in the top right of the photo for the flowers. I think it would be nice to make it look like Delphinium!

End of Show!

Today is the last day of the Charleston Holiday Market, and it was a busy day. My Mermaid mosaic, Starfish Trio, and Here Comes the Sun mosaic windows all found loving new homes, along with numerous smaller pieces. I’ve made a *little* bit of room to make some new things, so hopefully I will have time to revisit the sunset mosaic I started a few weeks ago with dichroic glass.
